Wild animals and family pets have been harmed, and many have been inhumanely killed, by brutal M-44 sodium cyanide ejectors placed on federal public land by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services program. Known as “cyanide bombs,” these cruel and indiscriminate traps eject sodium cyanide into the faces of animals that trigger them, causing a painful death.
Because of their destructiveness, these devices’ use was previously stopped on certain public lands. But the Administration has now reopened the door to their use in these once-protected places—putting innocent animals and people in harm’s way once again.
Congress must act. “Canyon’s Law” (H.R. 4180/S. 2179) would permanently ban the use of cyanide bombs across our nation’s public lands. The bill is named in honor of a young man who, after being poisoned and losing his beloved dog due to an M-44 encounter, has fought to safeguard all Americans from these devastating traps.
Tell your members of Congress to support Canyon’s Law to end the use of inhumane M-44 devices before more animals and people are harmed.
