The US Foundation for International Conservation Act (H.R. 6727/S. 618) is an innovative, bipartisan bill that would help protect biodiversity hotspots and key landscapes for wildlife. Through public-private partnerships, the impact of US government funding would be multiplied and encourage engagement from philanthropic and private funders.
We are in a biodiversity and planetary crisis of epic proportions. Estimates show that we need at least $598 billion per year invested in conservation by 2030 to reverse biodiversity loss. The US Foundation for International Conservation Act aims to close some of this gap, and importantly, drive additional private sector funding and investment into protecting the biodiversity and ecosystems on which we all depend.
