For over 50 years, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has prevented the extinction of over 99% of listed species, protecting hundreds of iconic animals like the bald eagle, Florida manatee, American alligator, and more. It’s one of the most effective conservation laws in the United States.
Now, its protections are at risk.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) have proposed regulatory revisions that risk the survival of endangered and threatened species as they would:
-Make it harder to protect critical habitat
-Limit scientists’ ability to safeguard species
-Let economic interests adversely influence listing decisions
-Remove key protections for threatened species
These rollbacks are unnecessary and dangerous. The deadline to speak out is December 20th. The agencies are accepting public comments now and it’s critical that we oppose this worrisome proposal and show robust public support for the ESA in its current, effective form.
Add your name now to protect endangered species and prevent extinction.
Take action before December 20th>>
