We see it all over social media. Celebrities on Instagram playing with tiger cubs. Friends posing with exotic animals during their island vacation. What we can’t see as easily is the cruelty behind the photo.
Exotic animals like tigers and lions often suffer a life of abuse in captivity. As soon as they can open their eyes, cubs are torn from their mothers and forced to perform in cub petting and bottle-feeding tourist attractions where individuals can pay a fee to touch and take photos with the cubs. When the cubs grow too big, they may be shipped off to pseudo-sanctuaries and private ownership situations where they live the rest of their lives in cramped backyard cages and roadside displays.
Big cats deserve more than a life of misery – and we have the power to change this. Join us today and help end the exploitation of animals. Sign the pledge below to take safe selfies that respect animals and say “no” to cub petting attractions.
